In this, the First-Year boys must physically and psychologically fight each other in a battle that culminates in The Smash War, where the boys' position in society is determined by their performance. For Kyrian and his friends The Wind Warriors, this event is a journey into their true self. Battling dangers in school, self-doubt, pressure from their dads and the bizarre advice and actions of the town joke Old Goof Fogerty, the Wind Warriors begin to question The Winderton Way itself as they enter The Fightmare.
