Sis & Me: Down by the Sea is a tale that teaches young children about body safety. As Sister and Brother enjoy a day at the beach, they encounter a variety of friends who help them learn about safe and unsafe touches, consent, and boundaries. While on their ocean adventure, they learn four important body safety rules: Say No, Get Away, Tell Someone, and Be Believed. 1 in 4 females and 1 in 13 males experience sexual abuse before their 18th birthday. We hope this story helps you begin the conversation with children about ways to keep their bodies safe. The "Resources After Reading" section of this book provide caregivers with additional ways to keep the conversation going. A portion of the proceeds from this book benefit the Center for Prevention of Abuse's mission to help all people live free from violence and abuse. The Center for Prevention of Abuse Prevention (CFPA) is a not-for-profit agency in Central Illinois whose mission is to help all people - women, men, and children - live free from violence and abuse. A pioneer in providing services to victims of abuse, CFPA has grown from a single rape crisis hotline that started in 1975 to a highly respected statewide leader in working to end abuse and break the cycle of generational violence. CFPA is the only agency authorized by the state of Illinois to provide a combination of free and confidential services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, sexual abuse, human trafficking, elder abuse, abuse of adults with disabilities, and violence prevention education. CFPA believes everyone deserves peace - every day, everywhere, any time - at home, in the workplace, at school, and out in the community. CFPA operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year and is headquartered in Peoria, Illinois. The crisis hotline is available 24/7 at 1-800-559-SAFE (7233). The agency can also be reached at 309-691-0551.
