This set of six movements constitutes Bartok's 1915 adaptation of Romanian tunes originating in Transylvania, which were played on the fiddle or a shepherd's flute. Zoltan Szekely's adaptation for violin and piano included transposing some of the movements, repeating some sections, and adding techniques specific for the violin.
